Building a Paver Patio Around Existing Pergola Posts That Stay
Plenty of Pinellas backyards already have a wood or aluminum pergola they want to keep. Tearing the posts out to pour a new patio is wasted money if the structure is sound. PaverForge Hardscapes builds the paver field around those posts instead of treating them as obstacles to demolish.
Sleeves, isolation, and pitch
Each post gets a sleeve or a clean cut-out so the field can move a few millimeters without racking the beam. We do not bury raw wood in polymeric sand. Footings stay isolated from the paver base so a post that settles later does not dish a whole bay of stone. Pitch still runs two percent off the house and off the posts, toward a drain or a free edge, not into the post cluster.
If a post is already rotten at grade we say so before we set stone. A pretty patio around a failing post is a year-three callback.
