Building a Potting-Bench and Outdoor-Sink Pad With a Trapped Drain
A potting bench on the main patio field is how potting soil, fertilizer stain, and hose rinse end up in the good joints. PaverForge Hardscapes builds a small dedicated pad — usually in a side yard or at the garage corner — with pitch to a trapped drain so the mess stays on a surface meant to be washed.
Drain first, stone second
The sink needs a trap and a legal discharge, not a hose laid across the lawn toward the neighbor. We coordinate the plumber on the stub, then set a compact paver or porcelain pad pitched to a heel-proof grate. The bench legs land on the pad, not on spikes driven through the bedding.
If the pad sits against the house, we keep splash off the stucco and leave a cleanout where the trap can be reached without lifting half the field. Fertilizer and potting mix stain lighter pavers; we often spec a darker utility color here and save the show stone for the living patio.
What to send for a quote
Bench footprint, sink cut sheet if you have one, and a photo of the side yard or garage corner. Note whether a hose bib already exists and where the downspout lands. Tight lots in south St. Pete and the beaches usually want this pad off the entertainment field.
