Building a Rain-Barrel Overflow Splash Pad Beside a Pinellas Garage
A rain barrel that dumps onto soil next to a paver drive will undermine the first three rows in one wet season. The overflow looks harmless until the soldier course drops and the garage slab shows a new lip. PaverForge Hardscapes builds a compact splash pad that takes the overflow, spreads it, and pitches it to daylight or a dry well.
Why the driveway edge fails first
Barrel overflow is a point load of clean water aimed at bedding sand. Once the sand migrates, the edge restraint has nothing to bear against. We excavate a small pad, place geotextile, compact a crushed-concrete base, and set a joint field that can take repeated flow without piping.
Tie-in options
If a downspout already has an underdrain, we tee the barrel overflow into that line instead of inventing a second outlet. If the only outlet is the lawn, the pad becomes a splash basin with a pop-up emitter past the nearest sabal. We do not dump the overflow under the driveway.
Pair it with a driveway re-edge
When we are already re-pinning a washed-out edge, the splash pad is the insurance that keeps the repair from failing next September. 727-490-9798.
