Building a Yard-Waste and Compost Staging Pad Beside a Pinellas Garage
Pinellas HOAs and tight side yards still need a place for yard-waste cans and a compost bin. Sitting those on soil makes a mud ring; sitting them on the driveway stains polymeric joints and invites carpenter ants into the field. PaverForge Hardscapes builds a dedicated staging pad that rinses clean.
Pitch, drain, and edge
The pad is small — usually two cans plus a bin — with a two-percent pitch to a splash stone or a trapped drain if the lot already has one. Edge restraint is pinned so can wheels do not walk the border. We keep the pad isolated from the driveway field so tannin and grass-clipping juice cannot migrate into the main joints.
Rinse and HOA screening
A hose bib splash basin on the same pad lets you rinse cans without flooding the garage threshold. If the HOA wants the cans screened, we can cap a short seat-wall or drop a removable lattice sleeve outside the paver field so the wall footing is not poured through finished joints later. Coastal lots get a darker joint sand that hides the first organic stain.
