Capillary-Break Fabric Under Bedding Sand on Pinellas Lots
When Pinellas bedding sand needs a capillary break
Pinellas groundwater sits high after king tides and multi-day rains. If bedding sand sits on a wet, fine subgrade, water wicks up, fines migrate, and the field develops soft spots. PaverForge Hardscapes adds a capillary-break fabric on those lots before the bedding layer so the sand stays a screeded working surface instead of a sponge.
This is not the same product as a separation geotextile under the base. The capillary break sits at the top of the compacted base, under the bedding sand. We still compact the base in lifts and proof-roll it. The fabric is extra insurance on lots that stay wet, not a substitute for undercutting muck.
Where we specify it
Canal-front and low-elevation barrier-island lots
Fields next to septic drain fields that stay damp
Driveways that ponded after the last storm season
Repairs where bedding sand turned gray and pumped under traffic
