Catch Basins and French Drains Under Paver Fields in Pinellas
A paver field in Pinellas fails from water more often than from the stone. Barrier-island lots and mainland yards both collect summer rain against a slab, a cage, or a neighbor grade that is higher than yours. Pitch helps. On a low lot, pitch is not the whole plan.
PaverForge Hardscapes builds catch basins and French drains into paver patios, pool decks, and driveways when the lot needs them. We do not pretend a pretty slope will move water uphill.
When a drain belongs in the quote
If water already stands after a storm, the new field will stand too unless we give it a place to go. If the house, the pool cage, and the property line lock the grade, we add a basin at the low point and pipe it to a legal outfall, a dry well where it is allowed, or an existing drain that actually works.
Catch basin at the true low point, not where it looks convenient
Pipe sized and sloped so it does not silt shut in year one
French drain against a wet foundation or a neighbor grade
Permeable fields only where the subgrade and outfall can take the water
Drains and the paver spec travel together
A basin sitting in a thin sand bed will settle and crack the surrounding units. We build the base around the drain the same way we build it under the field. Read the drainage and flood-zone posts on this blog for the Pinellas version of that argument.
