Building a Compost-Bin and Yard-Waste Staging Pad in a Pinellas Side Yard
Compost bins and yard-waste cans sink into Pinellas sand and stain the adjacent sod. A small paver pad keeps the bins level, gives the cans a place to sit through hurricane-week pickup, and stops the lawn edge from turning into a mud ring.
Pad size and drainage
Most side yards only need a two- or three-can rectangle with a slight pitch to a planted strip, not back toward the house slab. We compact a thin but continuous base, pin the edge, and leave a hose-down joint that will not hold standing leachate against the stucco.
If the run sits under a downspout, we add a splash basin or tie the pad pitch into an existing pop-up emitter so the compost does not sit in a puddle after every afternoon storm.
Side-yard work with a driveway job
This is an easy add-on while a crew is already on site for a driveway or patio. Send a photo of the bin wall and the side-yard width to PaverForge@gmail.com or call 727-490-9798.
