Coronado Drive Clearwater Beach Paver Walks
Coronado Drive is a Clearwater Beach residential street off the Mandalay corridor, with cottage lots, rental turnover, and a sugar-sand subgrade. PaverForge Hardscapes installs and resets paver walks, guest pads, and short drives here when salt air, irrigation, and thin base have opened the joints.
Sand, not clay, is the subgrade
Barrier-island sand will not hold a plate compactor pass the way inland fill does. We cut to a stable depth, place geotextile, and build crushed base in lifts so the walk does not pump after a king tide week or a hard afternoon storm. Bedding sand stays a consistent thickness. A thick sand bed is how these fields rut.
Heat, color, and rental traffic
Dark charcoal fields get hot enough in July that guests stop using the side court. Lighter concrete pavers stay more walkable. Rental houses also see suitcase wheels and golf carts. We use a restrained edge, polymeric sand rated for the joint, and a soldier course that can be lifted later if a plumber has to open a line.
Salt air and metal edge
Plain steel edge restraint rusts and stains the border on this island. We use restraint that holds up in salt air, pinned into the base, not into loose sand. Hose bibs and irrigation boxes stay flush so a mower or a cart does not catch them.
We are based in St. Pete Beach and work Coronado Drive with Mandalay, Island Estates, and the rest of Clearwater Beach. Call 727-490-9798 or book at paverforge.com/book-online.
