Dog Runs and Pet-Friendly Paver Joints in Pinellas Yards
A side-yard dog run is not a leftover strip of patio. Dogs rinse grit into the joints, urine stains a cheap light field, and a flat slab holds water against the fence. Pavers work here when the pitch is real and the joint can be rinsed without emptying. They fail when someone treats the run like a decorative walk.
What a pet-friendly field needs
Pitch to a drain or a planting strip so the run dries after a rinse.
A joint sand that can take a hose without washing out in one season.
A color that hides stains better than a bright white or pale tan.
An edge that keeps the field from creeping into the grass the dog already wears out.
What we recommend on Pinellas lots
Medium-to-dark concrete pavers, a compacted base, and a drain at the low corner. Permeable joints help on some inland lots; on a barrier-island side yard we still want a defined low point so rinse water does not sit against the house. We can tie the run into an existing patio so the dog is not stepping off a two-inch lip. We will not sell a mortar-set flagstone run that cannot be opened when a section stains.
PaverForge Hardscapes builds these as part of a patio or as a standalone side-yard field. Call 727-490-9798 or book at https://www.paverforge.com/book-online.
