Driveway Aprons and City Approaches in Pinellas
Most Pinellas driveway complaints start at the apron, not in the middle of the field. The car turns in. The first two rows rock. Water sits against the sidewalk. The city or the county has rules about what can sit in the right-of-way.
PaverForge Hardscapes quotes the apron as its own problem, not as leftover stone from the driveway. Call 727-490-9798.
Why aprons fail first
The apron takes turning loads, not just straight rolling. It also sits on the poorest soil — the strip that was cut, filled, and cut again for utilities. A patio-depth base under that strip will settle. So will a pretty soldier course with no restraint at the sidewalk.
Base depth sized for a turning car, not a patio
Pitch that sheds water to the street instead of the garage
A clean joint at the sidewalk or city concrete
Permit and right-of-way rules checked before we dig
Permits and the public strip
Work that stays inside the lot is often simpler than work that touches the sidewalk or the street. Pinellas cities do not all use the same rule. We do not invent fee numbers. We tell you when an apron is likely to need a permit and we plan the spec so an inspector is looking at a real base, not a sand bed.
If the rest of the driveway is still sound, we can rebuild the apron and tie back into the existing field. That is cheaper than a full tear-out when the failure is only at the street.
How to start an apron quote
Call PaverForge Hardscapes at 727-490-9798 or use the book-online page. Send photos of the apron, the sidewalk joint, and the first ten feet of driveway. We typically reply the same business day and walk the lot before we lock a number.
