Expansion Gaps on Long Pinellas Pool Decks
A long Pinellas pool deck cooks in afternoon sun and then takes a thunderstorm. The field wants to grow. If it has nowhere to go, it climbs the screen-cage posts, binds the sliders, or opens a trip lip at the house slab.
PaverForge Hardscapes plans those gaps before the first course, not after the cage installer calls. Call 727-490-9798 if a deck is already walking the posts.
Where the gap belongs
Isolate the paver field from the pool beam, the house slab, and the cage footings. A compressible joint or a clean soldier course against a bond-breaker keeps the interlocking field from transmitting movement into the structure. We still pitch the deck away from the sliders and keep weeps open at the cage kick plate.
Do not fill every joint with a rigid product and then expect the deck to behave like a floating field. Polymeric sand locks units to each other. It does not replace a planned isolation joint at the beam.
If the deck already climbed
We can lift a band, reset pitch, and open the isolation joint without tearing a sound field. That is a site call. Book it at paverforge.com/book-online or call 727-490-9798.
