Face-Compacting After Joint Sand on Pinellas Paver Fields

Sweeping sand across a new field is not the finish. The units have to be plate-compacted so sand drops into the joints and the pavers seat into the bed. Skip that pass and the first Gulf storm vacuums the joints. Weeds and ants move in before the owner has rinsed the dust.

The sequence that actually locks a field

  • Lay and cut the field, including borders.

  • Sweep joint sand, polymeric or washed, per the spec for that lot.

  • Face-compact with a protective pad so arrises do not chip.

  • Sweep again, compact again if the joints still take sand, then finish the edge and rinse per product rules.

Polymeric vs washed sand

Polymeric needs a dry surface and the manufacturer's water-in. Washed sand needs the extra compact passes more, because nothing chemically binds it. Either way, one lazy sweep is not a joint.

Schedule it as part of the last day

We do not leave a field 'to settle' without that compact. Call 727-490-9798.
