A fiber or cable handhole in a new paver field is easy to bury and expensive to find later. The lid has to stay at finished grade, and the box has to stop rocking the pavers around it.

Why paving over the lid fails

A tech with a locate ticket will cut the field to open a buried handhole. Pavers set on the lid also rock, because the box is not a compacted base. Mortar packed around the rim cracks at the first mower pass.

The ring we set

We bring a grade ring to the finished paver elevation, keep the lid removable, and lock the surrounding courses so the box cannot walk. Conduit stubs stay accessible. The same idea applies to a cable pedestal that has to stay outside the drive, not under a tire.

If a handhole is already in the middle of the yard you want paved, call PaverForge Hardscapes at 727-490-9798 before the base goes in. Photos of the lid and the locate marks are enough to start.
