Flush Seawall Ladder Recess Plates
A seawall ladder that lands on a finished paver cap needs a recess, not a saw cut through the field every time the rung is set. PaverForge Hardscapes builds a flush plate so the ladder seats, the walk stays locked, and the marine crew can lift the cover without breaking the border.
How the recess is built
We frame the rung footprint in the cap, set a rigid plate just below the paver face, and lock the surrounding courses with edge restraint. The plate is thick enough to take a foot and a ladder shoe, and it sits flush so a cart does not catch it.
Drainage is part of the detail. The recess pitches to the seawall side so rain does not sit under the plate and pump sand out of the joint. If the cap is already heaved, we reset that run before the plate goes in. This is a hardscape recess, not a marine weld.
Ask for the plate with the cap
Call PaverForge Hardscapes at 727-490-9798. A photo of the ladder, the cap, and the nearest joint is enough to tell whether the plate can sit in the existing field. We walk canal and bay lots across Pinellas before we lock a number.
