Flush Seawall Sheet-Pile Clutch Inspection Plates
Vinyl and steel sheet-pile seawalls lock together at the interlock, the clutch. On a Pinellas canal lot that clutch often sits under a paver cap or a poured walk. The first time a marine contractor needs to see it, someone cuts the field. A flush inspection plate puts a removable opening at the known interlock or wale splice instead.
What the plate is, and what it is not
PaverForge sets the plate, the recess, and the paver return. We do not inspect the wall, read anode potentials, or certify the seawall. The marine contractor or the engineer uses the opening. The plate sits flush with the cap, pitched with the field, so it is not a trip edge and it does not hold a puddle.
Located on the interlock or wale splice the marine contractor marks, not guessed in the middle of the cap
Frame isolated from the paver field so cap movement does not bind the lid
Lid that a gloved hand can lift, with a drain path out of the recess
Pavers cut and restrained so the opening does not become the start of a creep line
When to set it
The clean time is during a cap or walk rebuild, before polymeric sand. Retrofitting a sound field is possible, but it means a saw cut and a local base repair. We coordinate the location with the marine contractor so the plate is over the clutch, not over a pretty joint.
PaverForge Hardscapes builds these plates with seawall-cap hardscape across Pinellas beach and canal lots. Call 727-490-9798 or book at https://www.paverforge.com/book-online.
