Flush Seawall Waler Inspection Plates
A waler is the horizontal beam that ties a sheet-pile seawall together. The bolts that clamp that beam sit under many Pinellas patios and cap walks. When the pavers are mortared over them, a marine inspection means saw-cutting the field. A flush inspection plate leaves a removable opening in the hardscape.
What the plate is, and what it is not
PaverForge Hardscapes sets a flush plate in the paver field, bedded so it does not rock and detailed so polymeric sand stops at the frame. The plate is an access detail. It is not a seawall repair, not a structural design, and not a certification of the wall, the bolts, or the waler. A licensed marine contractor still inspects and, if needed, repairs the connection.
We locate the plate with the marine contractor or from the exposed bolt line before the patio is locked. The surrounding field keeps its pitch off the cap so storm water does not pond on the frame. Plates are sized to the bolt cluster, not used as a generic cleanout.
Where this shows up
Canal lots in Shore Acres, Snell Isle, Venetian Isles, and the bay-side streets of St. Pete Beach and Tierra Verde are the usual calls. If a patio is already planned, the plate is cheaper to set during the install than to cut in later. Call PaverForge Hardscapes at 727-490-9798 to walk the cap line.
