Furniture and Planter Lock-Up Windows After Polymeric Sand
Polymeric sand locks a Pinellas paver field only after it has been swept, compacted, and given a dry window. Putting a filled planter, a dining table, or lounge chairs on the field the same afternoon punches the joints and leaves tracks that collect algae.
Typical lock-up window
In a dry winter stretch we ask for 24 to 48 hours with no furniture and no irrigation overspray. In a humid summer week the same sand may need closer to 72 hours, and a thunderstorm in the first evening resets the clock. We do not treat the lock-up window as the same as the no-vehicle window on a driveway — chairs are lighter than a truck, but a point load from a table leg is enough to crater a fresh joint.
Planters belong on pads or feet that spread the load. If a client must stage furniture for a weekend event, we schedule the sand so the cure lands before the party, not the morning of.
What we tell the household
Keep sprinklers off the field, keep pets from digging the edge, and leave the soldier course alone until the sand skins over. PaverForge Hardscapes will write the lock-up window on the job card. Call 727-490-9798 if a storm hits before the joints set.
