Future-Lighting Conduit Sleeves Under a Finished Pinellas Driveway
Path lights, a gate operator, and a camera at the apron are easy to add later if the sleeve is already under the drive. They are a saw-cut and a color-match problem if you wait until the polymeric sand has locked.
Where we sleeve
Typical runs: house corner to mailbox, house to gate post, and a spare from the panel side to the far edge for a future uplight. We use schedule conduit with pull string, set below the compacted base so a plate compactor cannot crush it, and mark both ends before backfill.
What not to bury live
We sleeve empties. The electrician pulls wire after the field is set and the landscape plan is final. Live cable under bedding sand gets nicked by a wet saw the first time someone cuts a repair.
Gate pads and light bases
If a swing-gate operator is likely, we also leave a small isolated pad and a sleeve to the hinge post. Recessed well lights get a sleeve to each bed, not a home-run chopped through the soldier course after the fact.
