Ground-Mount Pool Solar Collector Rack Pads
Not every pool solar array belongs on the roof. Ground-mount collector racks need a pad that will not sink when the rack is full of water and a storm pushes on the frame. A few pavers laid on sand under the feet will tilt by the next summer.
How we build the rack pad
We size the pad to the rack footprint plus a working margin, undercut organics, and compact crushed concrete in lifts. Pavers or a broom-finish concrete pad can be the wearing surface. The rack anchors go into the structural pad, with a sleeve or block-out so a later panel swap does not mean tearing up the whole field.
Setback matters. Collectors need intake air and a service path, and they should not dump condensate or rinse water onto a light pool deck. We pitch the pad away from the cage and keep it clear of the heater exhaust and the salt-cell waste line.
