Hidden Bond-Beam Edges That Keep Pinellas Paver Fields From Spreading

Plastic edge restraint is fine on a walk and on some drive sides that sit against a slab. It is not fine on an open Pinellas edge that takes turning tires, boat trailers, and sheet flow. Those edges walk. Once they walk, the field opens and the border tips.

When we pour a hidden bond beam

  • Open edges along a landscape bed with no curb to lean on.

  • Circular drives and auto-court turns.

  • Repair jobs where the old plastic strip already crept an inch.

What the beam is

A narrow concrete haunch or beam poured against the soldier course, kept below finish grade so it does not read as a ribbon curb unless the owner wants that look. It locks the first two courses. Plastic can still cap a hidden beam on the landscape side. The beam is the structure.

Repair vs new work

If your border is tipping, do not just spike new plastic into the same loose soil. Call 727-490-9798 and we will look at whether a beam belongs there.
