Hurricane Shutter Track Recesses in Paver Walks
Accordion and roll-down hurricane shutters need a track or a floor receiver at the walk. Set on top of finished pavers, that track is a trip edge and a place for polymeric sand to lock the shutter shut. PaverForge recesses the receiver so the walk stays usable the rest of the year.
A bay that can be lifted, not a buried track
We leave a removable paver bay or a shallow recess sized to the shutter shop's track, with a pinned edge so the field does not creep into the opening. The track is not glued into the bedding sand. After a storm, the panels store, and the bay can be capped with matching pavers if the owner wants a flush walk in the off season.
St. Pete Beach wind and the entry walk
Gulf-lot and canal homes in St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island, and Clearwater Beach are the usual call. We keep the recess out of the door swing, match the walk pitch so water does not pond in the track, and coordinate the height with the shutter installer before the field is compacted.
Track elevation set with the shutter contractor, not guessed
Soldier course that can come up without tearing the whole walk
No polymeric sand in the receiver slot
