Marina Drive Dunedin Paver Approaches
Marina Drive sits on the Dunedin waterfront near the marina basin. The water table is close, the fill under older approaches is inconsistent, and salt air works on anything metal left in the joint. An approach that is fine in a Palm Harbor subdivision will pump and settle here if the base is thin.
Base before pavers
We excavate to a depth that leaves compacted aggregate, not a skim of bedding sand over organic fill. Geotextile goes down where the subgrade is soft. Lifts are compacted before the next one goes in. The field still has to drain: pitch to a legal outfall, not into the neighbor's yard or back at the house slab.
Salt and the edge
Edge restraint is specified for coastal air. Through-body pavers hold color longer than a face mix. We leave cleanout and hose-bib access flush, and we do not seal a wet or dirty field. Sealing is a later conversation, after the joints have locked.
