Matching a New Paver Stoop to a Raised Impact-Door Threshold After a Flood Retrofit
Flood retrofits and impact-door swaps in Pinellas often leave the new sill two to six inches above the old paver stoop. The door then weeps onto a landing that pitches the wrong way, or guests step down off a raw slab lip. PaverForge rebuilds the stoop as a designed landing, not a stack of leftover units.
Isolation from the house slab
The stoop does not get mortared to the house. We set an isolation joint at the slab, build the landing as its own sand-set or mortar-set pad, and pitch it away from the threshold so wind-driven rain does not sit under the new door sweep.
Measure finished sill height before demolition, not the old brick or paver top
Hold a soldier-course nosing at the step so the edge reads as a tread, not a trip
Match color from a repair pallet or a blend of three current pallets
Leave the screen-enclosure footer or rail post isolated if one already punches the old landing
When a ramp is the better answer
Aging-in-place lots and tight front walks often need a short ramp instead of a riser. We hold a usable slope and a contrasting border so the change in plane is visible. Call 727-490-9798 with a photo of the new door from the walk.
