Matching Garage-Slab Elevation to a New Pinellas Paver Driveway

A Pinellas driveway can look perfect in plan and still fail at the garage door. If the finished paver sits too high, the door scuffs and stormwater is pushed into the slab. If it sits too low, you get a trip lip and a pond at the threshold after every afternoon storm.

PaverForge sets field elevation from the slab, not from the street. The street and city apron still have to meet grade, but the controlling number is the garage threshold plus the two-percent pitch the field needs to drain.

The elevation checks we run before excavation

  • Finished floor and slab height relative to the existing apron.

  • Door swing and weather-strip clearance with a paver plus bedding thickness.

  • One-way pitch versus a slight crown on a two-car throat.

  • Whether the city apron can stay and the private field must ramp, or the apron itself is out of spec.

What owners notice after a bad match

Water under the door, a hollow-sounding first course, and a soldier course that rolls because it was perched on extra bedding instead of sitting on the same base as the field. We would rather undercut and rebuild the first six feet than stack bedding to fake a grade.

If your quote from another crew never mentioned slab elevation, ask them to. Or call PaverForge at 727-490-9798 and we will shoot grades on the visit.
