Outdoor Kitchen Appliance Footings Under Pinellas Paver Patios
A grill, a side burner, and a fridge are not patio furniture. On a Pinellas paver field they will punch the sand bed if the island is built as a skin on bedding sand. PaverForge Hardscapes sets a compact concrete footing or a thickened pad under the appliance run, then wraps the visible floor in the same pavers as the patio so the kitchen looks like one surface.
What sits on the footing
The footing carries the masonry or steel frame, the grill jacket, and any stone counter that cantilevers. The paver field around it stays sand-set so it can move a little and drain. We leave isolation at the house slab and at the cage post so the kitchen does not become a bridge that cracks when the patio breathes.
Stub gas, water, and power through sleeves in the footing before the paver bed is struck.
Keep a service gap behind the grill so the unit can pull without cutting a finished field.
Pitch the paver floor away from the cabinet toes. Standing water under a fridge cabinet is a rust job.
When a paver-only pad is enough
A small prep cart or a future grill that has not been bought yet can sit on a thickened paver pad with extra base and a rigid edge. A 36-inch or larger built-in with stone veneer should not. If you are unsure, we will price both and tell you which one will still be level after a summer of afternoon storms.
PaverForge Hardscapes builds these kitchens from St. Pete Beach across Pinellas County. Call 727-490-9798 or email PaverForge@gmail.com with the appliance list and a photo of the patio so the footing and the paver field are designed together.
