Paver Patio Over a Demolished Pool Backfill
Filled pools are not a finished grade
When a Pinellas pool is demolished, the shell is often broken and the hole is filled with mixed spoil. That backfill consolidates for years. A patio set on top of it dishes in the first two rainy seasons.
PaverForge Hardscapes probes the fill, undercuts the soft zone to a depth the plate compactor can lock, and rebuilds with crushed concrete in measured lifts. Only after a proof-roll do we screed bedding sand and set the paver field.
What we will not skip
Probe or test pit at the old deep end — that is where the softest fill sits.
Geotextile at the undercut so the new base does not punch into leftover spoil.
Compaction lifts, not one thick dump and a hope.
A written note in the quote if the fill is too deep for a patio and needs a thicker section or a geogrid.
