Paver Sample Panels and Mock-Up Squares Before a Pinellas Install
A catalog chip and a phone photo lie. Pinellas sun bleaches the chip. Salt air changes how a dark charcoal reads next to a white stucco wall. The only honest preview is a sample panel on your lot, in your light, next to your house.
PaverForge Hardscapes builds those mock-ups before we commit a driveway or patio to a full pallet order.
What the panel is for
The panel is not decoration. It answers four questions the rendering cannot:
Does this blend still look like the same color at 2 p.m. on a west-facing wall?
Does herringbone or running bond fit the field without sliver cuts at the walk?
Does the joint sand color fight the paver or disappear?
Does the HOA or the spouse still like it after living with it for a weekend?
How we build it
We set a small compacted pad, usually four feet square, with the same base recipe as the job. We mix pavers from more than one pallet so you see the real color range, not the pretty face of one cube. Then we leave it. You walk it. You look at it wet after a storm. You look at it at night if the walk will be lit.
If the panel is wrong, we change the blend. That costs a few hours. Changing a finished 800-square-foot driveway costs a tear-out.
When we skip a panel
A small repair that has to match an existing field does not need a new mock-up. We pull extra units from the same product line and dry-lay them on the old pavers instead. A brand-new field on a visible front elevation almost always gets a panel.
