Pinehurst Road Dunedin Paver Approaches
Paver driveway approaches on Pinehurst Road in north Dunedin, where sugar sand and older concrete aprons settle under daily traffic.
North Dunedin aprons fail at the sidewalk
Pinehurst Road runs through north Dunedin off the Curlew corridor, on lots that were built on sugar sand. The street apron and the first ten feet of drive take the braking load, and that is where thin concrete usually drops.
A lip at the sidewalk catches a tire, then the panel cracks and the bedding washes toward the gutter. Re-leveling the old field does not fix a base that was never built.
Approach spec we use
We pull the failed apron, proof-roll the subgrade, and rebuild with compacted base thick enough for passenger cars and the occasional boat trailer. Edge restraint is pinned, not just butted to the lawn.
The sidewalk joint is a clean saw cut, not a ragged break. Pitch runs to the street, not back at the garage. If a water meter or irrigation valve sits in the throat, it gets a flush grade ring so the lid stays serviceable.
Call PaverForge Hardscapes at 727-490-9798 or use the book-online page. Send photos of the apron, the sidewalk joint, and any low spot. We typically reply the same business day and walk the lot before we lock a number. The shop is in St. Pete Beach, and the same crew covers Dunedin, Clearwater, Largo, Seminole, and St. Petersburg.
