Pool Heater and Salt-Cell Pads in Pinellas Paver Fields
Pool equipment is heavy, hot, and messy. A heater or salt cell set on loose pavers will walk, stain the field, and sit in a puddle after every backwash. The pad has to be part of the hardscape plan, not a leftover square behind the cage.
PaverForge Hardscapes builds equipment pads while the patio or cage floor is going in, or we cut them into an existing field without leaving a patched look.
What the pad has to do
Stay level under a heater that vibrates and sheds condensate
Drain away from the unit and away from the house
Leave manufacturer clearances on the service sides
Give the salt cell and pump a clean, washable surface that will not hold standing water
How it meets the paver field
We usually set the pad slightly proud of the surrounding patio so wash water runs off, then wrap a border so the two surfaces have a clean joint. Conduit and gas lines are sleeved before the base is locked. If the equipment already exists, we measure the footprint and the required clearances first so we are not boxing the owner into a code problem later.
Do not set a heater on bedding sand and hope the weight will keep it still. The pad needs the same compacted base as the driveway, just on a smaller footprint, with an edge that will not kick out when someone leans on the unit during service.
