Protecting Fresh Polymeric Joints from Irrigation Overspray
Polymeric sand needs a clean cure window. On Pinellas lots the irrigation clock is often still running when the last course is set, and overspray is one of the fastest ways to haze, wash, or crust a joint that has not locked yet.
What we ask homeowners to do
We shut off or bag heads that throw onto the new field before joint sand goes down. Reclaimed-water staining is a separate problem; overspray during the cure window is about moisture and movement, not just color. Heads get restored after the manufacturer window, not the same afternoon.
If a zone cannot be isolated, we cap or redirect the nearest heads and keep a dry path off the field. Pressure-washing too soon after install is the other common failure. Soft-wash and a later re-sand beat blasting fresh joints.
