Rain-Barrel and Cistern Pads on Pinellas Residential Lots
A full 50-gallon barrel is a point load on a small footprint. A buried or above-grade cistern is heavier. Setting either on leftover patio pavers over raw sand is how the tank leans into the house after the first wet month.
Pad details that keep the tank plumb
We compact a crushed-concrete base to the tank footprint plus a working lip, set 60 mm or 80 mm units depending on tank size, and pitch splash away from the slab. The downspout and overflow stay on the line the plumber already approved.
Base sized for the full-tank load, not a planter-pad leftover
Level plane under the tank; pitch only on the splash apron
Overflow directed to a bed, dry well, or existing drain, not the neighbor
Removable edge so the barrel can be pulled without tearing the walk
