Rebuilding a Driveway After a City Mill-and-Overlay Changed the Gutter Grade
A city mill-and-overlay on a Pinellas street can add an inch or two at the gutter. The public apron and sidewalk stay. Your private paver field does not move with them. Water then ponds at the throat, polymeric sand washes, and the first two courses start to rock.
What we rebuild and what we leave alone
PaverForge does not mill, grind, or overlay a city slab. We rebuild the private field from the property line back to a sound course. That usually means lifting the first six to twelve feet, adding base or bedding to the new hinge point, and resetting a soldier course that meets the apron without a trip edge.
Laser the new gutter and apron before any pavers come up
Undercut only the private throat that now sits low
Re-compact crushed-concrete in lifts so the hinge does not settle after the first storm
Reset the border so tires do not chip the first course on the way in
When a full-field re-level is the cheaper path
If the rest of the driveway already has lippage or a washed joint, we quote a longer lift instead of a short patch that will look like a speed bump. Photos of the gutter, the first three courses, and the garage slab are enough for a first look. Call 727-490-9798.
