Rebuilding a Paver Field After a City Water-Meter Pit Raise
Pinellas utilities raise meter pits when a service is upsized or a lid no longer meets grade after a road overlay. The crew usually backfills with native sand and leaves a lip in the paver field. That lip collects water, then the adjacent units drop. PaverForge Hardscapes rebuilds the ring so the pit lid and the driveway read as one plane.
Grade ring and soldier
We confirm the final lid elevation with the utility before we cut. A grade ring or a poured collar brings the frame to finished height. Around the frame we set a soldier or sailor course so future lid swaps do not chew random field units. Bedding is fresh C33, not the utility sand left in the hole.
Color match uses leftover owner pallets when they exist. If the original product is discontinued, we build a small accent band so the repair reads as a border, not a patch.

Meter readers still need a clear lid. We keep polymeric off the lid rebate and slope the last two feet so splash from meter flushing does not sit against the house. Photos of the open pit go in the job packet in case the city asks how the private field was restored.
