Removing Failed Concrete Before New Pinellas Pavers

Plenty of Pinellas contractors will set pavers on a cracked walk and call it an upgrade. The crack telegraphs. The slab still holds water against the house. The first root or the first storm finishes the job. PaverForge Hardscapes breaks out concrete that has already failed and builds a compacted aggregate base the pavers can actually live on.

When the slab can stay

A sound, well-drained slab with enough elevation can sometimes take a thin overlay system. That is a different spec and a different quote. If the slab is heaved, sunken at the garage, or holding a puddle at the door, overlay is a delay, not a repair. We will say that on the walkthrough.

  • Saw-cut and breakout sized so the house and the neighbor's slab stay intact

  • Haul-off of the spoil instead of burying it in the backyard

  • Subgrade compacted in lifts after the slab is gone

  • A new pitch away from the threshold before bedding sand goes down

Access on beach lots

On St. Pete Beach and Treasure Island the breakout has to leave through a three-foot side yard as often as it leaves through the front. We plan the chute, the truck window, and the dump so the street does not become the staging yard all afternoon.
