Root Barriers Along Mature Oaks Under Pinellas Paver Fields
Mature live oaks and laurel oaks heave paver driveways across Pinellas. We already write about root heave. This is the next decision: whether the repair includes a root barrier, or whether you are paying to re-level the same panel again in two seasons.
PaverForge Hardscapes installs root barriers and rebuilds the field around them. Call 727-490-9798 or book at https://www.paverforge.com/book-online.
When a barrier belongs in the quote
If the tree is staying, and the roots are already lifting an apron or a walk, a compacted base alone will not win. We cut a clean trench at a distance that does not girdle the tree, set a barrier that roots cannot easily climb, backfill, and rebuild the paver panel on a compacted base with pitch away from the trunk flare.
Do not bury the root flare under extra stone
Do not run a barrier through a major structural root without an arborist call
Rebuild the lifted panel, do not shim one stone and walk away
Keep irrigation off the joint until it locks
How to start a root-barrier quote
Send photos of the heaved panel, the trunk flare, and the distance to the house. We walk the lot before we lock a number. Tree work is site-specific. We will tell you when a barrier is the wrong tool.
