Salt-Air Corrosion of Metal Edge Restraint on Pinellas Barrier Islands

Barrier-island driveways on St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island, and Madeira Beach eat cheap steel edge restraint. Salt air and irrigation overspray rust the spike line. The first failure is usually the apron and the street-side radius, where the field starts to wander.

What we replace it with

We pull the failed metal, compact the edge, and reset a thicker restraint made for coastal work, or a concrete ribbon curb where the apron takes turning loads. Spikes go into compacted base, not into loose sand. A soldier course hides the edge and takes the tire scuff.

If the rust has already let the field creep, we lift and re-level the first few courses rather than nailing a new strip onto a moving edge. Irrigation heads that spray the edge get adjusted or swapped for a low-angle nozzle so the new metal is not bathed daily.

How to start

Call 727-490-9798 or book at https://www.paverforge.com/book-online. A photo of the rusty strip at the apron is enough to quote an edge rebuild.
