Seawall Electrical Pedestal Isolation Pads
Canal lots in Pinellas often have a dock power pedestal a few feet in from the seawall, right where the paver walk wants to go. If that pedestal is standing on bedding sand, the next re-level pulls the conduit and the electrician has to come back. The pedestal belongs on its own pad, isolated from the walking field, with a sleeve the pavers can be lifted around.
Separate pad, not a floating post
We leave the electrical work to the licensed electrician. Our piece is the hardscape: a compact concrete or paver pad sized to the pedestal footprint, set on compacted base, with a movement joint so the walk can settle without tipping the post. Conduit comes up inside the pad, and a removable paver ring around the base lets the next repair happen without a saw cut through the whole approach.
Salt air and dock approaches
Within a block of open water we use metal edge restraint, not plastic spikes alone. The walk to the pedestal pitches off the seawall cap, and the joints are a sand that can be refilled after a king tide rather than a mortar joint. Boat-lift control pedestals can share the same idea on a second pad so the two services are not stacked on one plate.
