Setting a Septic-Alarm and Control-Panel Pedestal Pad in a Pinellas Side Yard
Keep the septic panel off the soil and off the walk
Many Pinellas lots still run a septic tank and drain field, especially west of the sewered grid and on older Gulfport, unincorporated, and north-county parcels. The alarm and control panel need a small, level pad that a tech can stand on in the rain. Setting that panel on loose soil or clipping it to a fence post is how the conduit pulls and the alarm false-trips.
Pad rules we follow
Stay outside the drain-field setback and clear of tank lids
Keep the pad high enough that a king-tide puddle does not stand at the enclosure
Leave a walkable landing so a tech is not standing in the bed
Do not tie the pad into a paver walk that will be re-leveled later
If a new walk already crosses the side yard, we cut a flush sleeve for the conduit and build the pedestal just off the field. That way a future lid raise or tank work does not require tearing the whole walk.
