Setting a Flush Landscape-Lighting Transformer Vault in a Finished Walk
Landscape-lighting transformers get hidden in a shrub and then buried by mulch until the first ground-fault. Homeowners ask us to drop a flush vault in the walk so the electrician can open the lid without crawling into the bed. PaverForge Hardscapes sets that vault so the lid is in the same plane as the pavers.
Flush means flush
A raised plastic box in a walk is a trip and a mower strike. We frame the vault to the field thickness, pack base around the box, and cut the lid border as a soldier or sailor course so a future swap does not require tearing half the walk.
Power, GFCI, and irrigation
We do not pull the homerun. We leave a sleeve from the house wall or the meter pad, keep the vault out of the lowest point of the walk, and stay off irrigation laterals. If the transformer needs shade, the vault goes on the north side of a column, not in a west-facing field.
Add it during a walk rebuild
The cleanest time to set the vault is when the walk is already open. If the walk is finished, we cut a neat window and blend leftover units as a band. Call 727-490-9798.
