Setting a Flush Transformer Pad Grade Ring in a Pinellas Side Yard
Side-yard transformer pads and irrigation-controller pads sit in the same narrow lane as the hose bib, the AC condensate, and the walk to the gate. When the pad is poured first and the pavers are butted tight to the concrete, the next utility raise becomes a tear-out. PaverForge Hardscapes sets a flush grade ring so the field can open and close around that pad.
Clearance the utility actually needs
The pad itself is the utility's. We do not bury the working face or pinch the door swing. The grade ring sits in the paver field, not on the pad, and leaves the specified working clearance. A soldier-course collar around the ring hides the joint and gives us a clean lift line later.
Base around the pad is compacted independently so a soft backfill pocket does not settle the first course. Where the side yard also carries a downspout, we add a splash basin or underdrain rather than letting the discharge mine the bedding.
Why flush beats a raised concrete island
A raised pad island in a paver walk is a trip edge and a mower nick. Flush-to-field with a serviceable ring looks finished and still lets Duke or the co-op pull the can without a demolition invoice.
