Setting a Mechanical Pool Water-Leveler Isolation Pad Off a Pinellas Deck
A water-leveler is not the same as a recessed auto-fill box
Many Pinellas pools already have a recessed auto-fill valve somewhere in the deck. A mechanical water-leveler is a different piece: a float body, often in its own small tank or trough, that sits off the beam and needs a stable pad plus a lid that can come off without chiseling polymeric sand. We build that pad isolated from the walking field so a tech can pull the float after a king-tide event without lifting a row of coping-adjacent pavers.
The pad is kept off the main pitch of the deck. If overflow dumps onto the field, joints wash. We pitch the pad to a weep or a small basin, keep the lid flush with a contrast unit so it is findable, and leave a sleeve back to the fill line so the plumber is not trenching the finished patio later.
What gets coordinated
Pad location off the beam and out of the chair-traffic lane
Lid height matched to the finished deck so it is not a trip
Fill-line sleeve under the field before joint sand
Isolation from the pool-beam joint so plaster work does not crack the pad
