Setting a Mini-Split Condenser Isolation Pad on a Pinellas Lanai

Ductless mini-splits are showing up on Pinellas lanais and side yards when a room addition cannot take another attic duct. The condenser is small. The mistake is setting it on the finished paver field with no isolation and no plan for condensate.

PaverForge Hardscapes builds those pads as part of a lanai floor or a side-yard equipment court. Call 727-490-9798 or book at paverforge.com/book-online. The mechanical contractor owns the electrical whip, the line set, and the charge. We own the pad, the pitch, and the pavers around it.

Clearance and service pull

The unit needs the manufacturer's side and front clearances, plus a path to pull the unit without walking across a fresh polymeric joint. We leave a service stance of pavers on a full base, not a loose border that rocks when the tech kneels. Screen-cage posts and knee walls get an isolation gap so the pad is not locked to the footer.

Condensate and vibration

Condensate should not sheet across the lanai into the pool or under the slider. We pitch the pad and the surrounding field to a lawn edge, a pop-up, or an existing drain. A short condensate line that dumps on the joint sand is how a halo of haze starts. Vibration isolation is the equipment pad and the feet the manufacturer specifies, not a thicker paver.

Line-set sleeves through the field are set before the last courses, with a cap that finishes flush. We do not bury a line set under bedding sand and hope the next tech can find it.

When the field already exists

A retrofit means lifting a small area, rebuilding the base, and resetting. We do not shim a condenser on sand and call the pavers done. If the lanai pitch already runs at the house, the pad work is the time to correct that lane.

Send the unit model, the lanai photo, and where the line set comes out of the wall. That scopes a mini-split pad without a second visit for measurements you already have.
