Setting a Pool Automation Panel Isolation Pad in Pinellas
Why the automation panel does not sit on the deck
When a Pinellas pool gets a new automation panel — IntelliCenter, OmniLogic, or a similar load-center — the box often lands on the cage footer or on the finished paver deck. Both are wrong. The footer moves with the screen. The deck moves with heat and rain. The panel needs a small isolated pad with room for conduit sweeps, a bonding lug, and a service tech who is not standing on your coping.
PaverForge Hardscapes sets that pad as its own plane. It is not a leftover square of patio field.
What the pad has to do
Sit level under the enclosure so the door clears and the deadfront stays square.
Keep conduit and low-voltage bundles off the walking surface.
Stay isolated from the cage footer and from the pool-deck field.
Leave a service aisle that does not require lifting finished pavers later.
How we set it
We confirm the electrician’s enclosure footprint and the inspector’s working clearance. The pad is compacted base and 80mm or 60mm units, pinned at the edge, pitched a hair off the box so rinse water does not sit under the enclosure. A bond-breaker at the cage footer keeps the two planes from cracking each other. If the old panel sat on deck units, we patch that field after the new pad is in.
The same visit can take a salt-cell pad or a heater pad if those pieces are moving in the same equipment swap.
