Setting a Pool Heat-Exchanger Isolation Pad After an Equipment Swap
Pool heat exchangers get swapped when a gas heater is rebuilt or a heat-pump loop is added. The new skid is rarely the same footprint as the old one. Setting it on the cage footer or on finished deck pavers guarantees a cut-out the next time the unit is rebuilt. PaverForge Hardscapes pours or sets an isolated pad sized to the new equipment and the clearance the manufacturer wants.
What we isolate from the deck
Vibration and condensate so joints at the cage door do not wash
The cage footer, which should not become the equipment foundation
Flue or line-set sleeves that must pass the finished field
A working aisle so the pool tech can pull the unit without stacking pavers on the lawn
After the swap
We match the pad elevation to the plumbing, not the other way around, and leave a clean isolation joint at the deck. If the old pad is short, we do not grout a ring of leftover units around the skid. That ring always settles. The new pad is one compacted-base pour or a locked paver plinth built as its own field.
