Setting a Pool-Slide or Ladder Sleeve Through a Finished Pinellas Paver Deck

Pool builders often set a slide or ladder after the paver deck is already down. Cutting a hole and packing sand around the post is how decks fail: the units chip, the joint washes, and splash sits against the sleeve.

Isolate the sleeve

We core or wet-saw a clean opening, set a sleeve that is independent of the bedding sand, and pack the annulus so the post can move a little without prying adjacent pavers. The field stays on its own base.

Pitch and splash

Slide runout dumps a lot of water in one place. We keep two-percent pitch off the sleeve, add a drain if the beam is flat, and do not run polymeric into the wet zone until the pool contractor is done spraying.

Deck and pool sequencing

If the slide is known before we start, we leave a sleeved block-out. If it arrives later, we lift a local panel instead of saw-cutting a random hole through a locked field. Call 727-490-9798 before the pool company schedules the set.
