Setting a Pool Tablet Chlorinator Isolation Pad Off a Pinellas Deck
An erosion or tablet chlorinator looks small until it sits on the same paver field as the deck chairs. Tablets off-gas, splash leaves a bleached halo, and any leak tracks into joints that were never meant to see concentrated chlorine. PaverForge Hardscapes sets the chlorinator on its own isolated pad so the finished deck stays a living surface.
Why the pad has to be isolated
Pool equipment pads that share a continuous bedding plane with the deck transfer vibration and settlement. When the chlorinator is plumbed after a variable-speed pump upgrade, the old equipment pad is usually the wrong height and the wrong distance from the screen-cage footer. We break the plane with an isolation joint at the cage and at the deck field, then build a small pad sized to the vessel and the unions.
Clearance matters. Service techs need room to open the lid, swap tablets, and shut the isolation valves without standing on the coping. We hold manufacturer setbacks from heaters, controllers, and the cage wall rather than jamming the unit into the leftover corner.
How we build it
The pad is a compacted crushed-concrete section with a slight pitch away from the cage footer and the house slab. We sleeve any chase for future control wiring, set a trapped splash area if the plumber wants a drain, and keep polymeric joints off the immediate chemical halo. Units stay replaceable; the pad is not mortared to the vessel.
If the existing deck is already stained, we can rebuild just the equipment pocket without tearing the whole cage floor. That is the usual Pinellas request after a sanitizer upgrade.
Schedule the chlorinator pad
Call PaverForge Hardscapes at 727-490-9798 or email PaverForge@gmail.com with photos of the equipment pad and the cage footer. We will confirm isolation, pitch, and whether the old pad can be reused.
