Setting a Rain-Barrel Overflow Splash Pad in a Pinellas Side Yard
A rain barrel that dumps onto bare sand will fan a stain across the stucco and pull bedding sand out of the nearest paver joints after three summer storms. PaverForge Hardscapes sets a small splash pad under the overflow so the discharge hits a locked field instead of the side-yard soil.
Pad size and pitch
Most barrels need a 3-by-4 or 4-by-6 pad pitched to a bed, a dry well, or the driveway swale. We compact a thin crushed-concrete base, pin a plastic or aluminum edge, and use the same unit as the adjacent walk so the pad does not read as a patch.
Tie-in details
If the barrel sits beside a finished walk, we lift a few units, drop a short underdrain sleeve, and reset the field so the overflow never sheets across the house wall. Polymeric sand stays off the barrel stand until the first-week watering window is done.
