Setting a Recessed Pool Auto-Fill Valve Box in a Finished Pinellas Deck

An auto-fill valve that sits proud of a pool deck is a trip edge. One that sits in a low pocket ponds against the lid and rusts the hardware. PaverForge Hardscapes sets the box flush with the finished paver field so the deck stays walkable and the valve stays serviceable.

Box, ring, and pitch

We locate the fill line before the field is locked, set a grade ring so the lid matches the paver plane, and keep the two-percent pitch of the deck running across the lid — not into it. The lid is heel-proof enough for bare feet and easy to lift when the float needs service.

Do not sand the mechanism

Polymeric sand stays out of the box. We tape or cap the valve during joint work and rinse haze off the lid the same day. On salt-system decks the hardware is chosen for the chemistry, not a big-box sprinkler box.
