Setting a Retractable Screen-Floor Track Isolation in a Finished Patio
Retractable patio screens that drop into a floor track look clean until the paver field creeps. Heat, irrigation, and a slightly proud unit will rack the track and the screen will not latch. PaverForge Hardscapes builds an isolated channel in the finished patio so the track can be shimmed or replaced without rebuilding the whole lanai floor.
What the track needs from the paver field
A straight, laser-checked recess instead of a saw-cut after the fact
Pitch that does not pond in the channel after an afternoon storm
A bond-break from the house slider so impact-door work does not twist the track
Room to lift two soldier units if the screen company has to swap hardware
Install sequence
We set the field, leave the channel open or sleeved to the screen shop's template, then close borders once the track is confirmed. Polymeric stays out of the recess. If an existing patio already pinched a track, we lift a band, re-screed, and reset rather than grinding units down to dust.
