Setting a Tankless Water-Heater Condensate Neutralizer Pad in a Pinellas Side Yard
A high-efficiency tankless water heater dumps acidic condensate that etches pavers and kills the first row of sod if it lands on the field. PaverForge Hardscapes sets a small compacted pad and a splash basin so the neutralizer cartridge sits level, the drain daylight is visible, and the walk stays dry.
Why the pad is not just leftover pavers
Condensate is not irrigation water. We isolate the pad from the main walk with a bond-breaker at the house slab, pitch it to a lip or a trapped splash, and leave room for the plumber to swap the cartridge without lifting the field. The pad is 80 mm or a mortar-set unit so a service tech can stand on it in wet season.
Routing the drain without staining the walk
We sleeve the condensate line under the first course when the walk is new, or chase a narrow trench and rebuild a repair band when the walk is already locked. The daylight end sits on the pad, not in a joint, so polymeric sand does not wash into the yard.
